In a universe very similar to our own, interstellar travel is a common happening, with the human race constantly travelling to new and distant planets, meeting new races and discovering new planets. Among these discoveries is Stella Critina – The Planet of Comets, a favourite among many alien species due to a new sport that has taken the whole Universe by storm. Comet Surfing …
Close up of sun/extreme bright light. Cut to extreme close up of eyes. Long stare upwards, presumably at the sun, blink, pause and cut
Our story begins on Earth with 16 year old __________, your average teenager, but with an astronomical dream – to become the world best Comet Surfer.
Long shot, people at bench, main singled out slightly but centred in frame, friends off to side in heated conversation w/o main. Prolong shot to give absence of mind.
Conversations dies down, friend looks at main then follows line of sight to sky.
“Hey!” Friend nudges playfully, main ‘snaps-out’ and turns to friend
Over the shoulder from main – shot reverse shot follows
“You can’t just keep thinking about that stuff!”
Reaction shot of main, vacant stare
Reaction shot of main, vacant stare
Friend tuts/sighs to show frustration and turns back round to other. Cut to side on shot of main with friends in background picking up bags and walking off.
Main stays sat, now looking down at hands.
POV Staring down into palms at flyer
Reading aloud to self “Annual Comet Surfing Contest, London, UK, Earth”
Grip tightens slightly on page with determination and there is a slow pan upwards and the skyline is revealed – Not normal blue sky but a deep space picture with stars, nebulas, sun etc
Pan up gradually gets darker and the abundance of planets/nebulas are lost – Slow black fade out w/ panning.
